Dr Vincent Thomas

MBBS, FRANZCR

Dr Vin Thomas commenced his radiology training at the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, after receiving his MBBS degree. On successful completion of his fellowship (FRANZCR), he worked as a Fellow in Radiology at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.

He then began his journey into rural medicine, working three years as a sole radiologist serving the Riverina Hospital group in NSW, then Albury Base Hospital.

The attraction of private practice drew him into solo practice in 1976 introducing “capital city” quality equipment and special procedures, including the new speciality of ultrasound. Not only did Dr Thomas look after his own 3 practices, but was also kept busy servicing three hospitals.

In 1980 he obtained his Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound, one of the few specialists in that, then new, diagnostic field.

The recognised value and growth of diagnostic medicine in the 1990's, enabled Dr Thomas to merge with another imaging group in 1998 to form Border Radiology.

Extensive short-term locum positions throughout Australia and the UK followed, before retiring in 2018. The love of radiology drew him back to active practice, and after renewing his medical registration in 2018 he commenced as a part-time radiologist with Marina Radiology Wodonga.
