Dr Raef Boktor

Dr Raef Boktor, Marina's Nuclear Medicine Physician and Sonologist, brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise. Raef's attention to detail and passion in his field, has seen him play a pivotal role in establishing and building Marina's Nuclear Medicine Department.

Graduating from Cairo University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, he went on to train in nuclear medicine and PET in Cairo University's Hospitals, and the Egyptian National Cancer Institute.

After obtaining his Masters and Medical Doctorate degrees in nuclear medicine, he held several senior positions in both the public, and private sectors. Raef's dedication and aptitude saw him proudly appointed the position of Clinical Director of Nuclear Medicine and PET at Egypt's internationally renowned Children's Cancer Hospital. During this time, he also held an academic position as Cairo University's lecturer of nuclear medicine.

After immigrating to Australia with his young family in 2007, he successfully undertook AMC exams, and repeated nuclear medicine and PET training in accredited positions at Austin Medicine Specialists (FAANMS). Continuing with further training, Raef has gone on to attain his Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU), and gained accreditation as a CTCA specialist, allowing him to hold leading positions in multiple Australian private practices.

Remaining academically active, Raef has 15 internationally published peer reviewed articles, presents at medical education events, and is an adjunct lecturer at Notre Dame University's medical school. These academic achievements have been recognised by his original university, Cairo University, conferring him the title of Associate Professor.
